Emily Win is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern holding a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Palo Alto University, a Master’s in Creative Writing and Critical Life from the University of Leeds, and a Bachelor’s in English Literature from Saint Louis University. Her academic focus in both literature and counseling has centered on LGBTQ+ issues, enriching her understanding and creative, holistic approach to client work.
A Midwesterner at heart, she enjoys traveling to visit family and loved ones back in Ohio and Chicago. In her free time, she loves crafting with friends, baking, visiting amusement parks, and solving escape rooms. Emily is both personally and professionally driven by her commitment to create more diverse and inclusive spaces.
Background & Approach
Emily focuses on supporting LGBTQ+ youth, couples, and non-traditional couples and families. With experience in youth case management, non-profit communications and development, ESL education, and spiritual support spaces, Emily brings a diverse skill set to her work. She is deeply committed to equity work and understands that the experience of people of color (POC) in therapy is specific and unique, ensuring that her approach is sensitive and inclusive.
Specialties
Emily approaches therapy from an inclusive and multicultural feminist lens, believing that the mind, body, and spirit are interconnected, along with the communities and systems around us. She specializes in working with teens and young adults, neurodivergent individuals, LGBTQ+ youth, couples, non-traditional couples and families, trans and gender-questioning individuals, those facing suicidal ideation and self-harm, and the elderly or those nearing end-of-life. Additionally, she has experience working with children. Emily’s therapeutic style is eclectic and tailored to each client’s needs, often incorporating elements of existentialism, internal family systems, somatic modalities, play therapy techniques, and the Gottman Method.
